Public Golf Courses in Myrtle Beach

Golf aficionados living in Myrtle Beach are fortunate to have a range of public golf courses available. Semi-private clubs are not included in this list. 


The Resort Course at Grande Dunes

This golf course is laid out along the scenic Intracoastal Waterway. It accounts for golfers of different skill levels, includes a Golf Academy, and has practice facilities. 


The Barefoot Golf Resort

Players choose from this resort’s four available courses, all named after renowned golfers. Each course is designed to highlight the natural landscape. The Love course is a special favorite, with a traditional Lowcountry Plantation design with wide fairways. 


Caledonia Golf & Fish Club

Situated on Pawleys Island, this is championship golf in a low-country setting. This former rice Plantation continues to win golfing accolades for its layout, location, scenery, and service. The golf course is surrounded by pines and hardwood forests, plus water hazards like tidal creeks and salt marshes.


True Blue Plantation

Another highly regarded course on Pawleys Island, True Blue Plantation adjoins Caledonia. It sits on what was an indigo plantation and blends into the natural landscape of rolling hills. Features include elevated changes and vast fairways. 


Prestwick Country Club

Golf Digest rated Prestwick Country Club four and a half stars out of five for its par-72 course. Considered a Myrtle Beach insider’s best-kept secret, the course ranked fifth in a 2019 top courses survey of PGA professionals. 


TPC Golf Clubs in Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach is home to one of the Tournament Players Club golf courses and playing at TPC is a top-ranked Myrtle Beach attraction. This particular course was designed by Tom Fazio. It's considered highly technical with its different natural hazards and bunkers. The Senior PGA TOUR Championship has been held at this venue, plus other pro events.


Junior Golf in Myrtle Beach

Golfing’s popularity in Myrtle Beach means that there are opportunities for the whole family to be involved in the sport.  First Tee of Grand Strand is a program for youth of all ages and skill levels. The Myrtle Beach Junior Golf Foundation organizes activities for junior golfers, runs an Academy, and offers private instruction. Additionally, golf clubs up and down the Grand Strand offer junior golf academies or special packages for youth members. 


During the summer months, the local clubs and resorts offer opportunities for junior golfers to participate in golf academies or to experience the course with an adult.  Discounts range from an under-16 child playing free with a paying adult to discounted fares for youth. It's best to check with the golf course about any summer youth play programs.
