3. South Washington County Schools (Woodbury/St. Paul)
Just east of St. Paul is the township of Woodbury, part of the South Washington County School District. This district, composed of 24 public schools, has a 92% four-year high school graduation rate, performs better than the state average for testing in math and reading, and is the 9th rated school district (of 54) in the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area. According to data from 2018, 76% of students were enrolled in college or university level programs within 16 months of graduation. The district boasts a low 16 to 1 student teacher ratio, which is below the national average, and over 85% of surveyed parents and guardians agree that the teachers actively care about the students and their success. Woodbury Senior High School is ranked 12th best public high school in Minnesota according to niche.com.

For the past 4 years the district has had an over 95% graduation rate with 88% of 2018 graduates enrolling in a college or university program within 16 months. Wayzata Senior High School has one of the top athletics departments in the state and won the 2019 state championships for football, dance, and girl’s volleyball. Surveyed parents and guardians reported very high satisfaction with teaching staff.
Southeast of Minneapolis-St. Paul along scenic Lake Minnetonka, is the community that shares the same name. Minnetonka Public Schools is the top-performing school district in Minnesota. The district comprises 8 schools and serves ten surrounding affluent communities including the new construction communities in Eden Prairie, Greenwood, Deephaven and of course, Minnetonka. The district’s average ACT score for 2018 was 27.7, and the SAT average was 1390. Their graduation rate is 97% according to niche.com, with 83% of the graduating class attending college within 16 months of graduation.
