Online Home Buying in 8 Simple Steps

The path to buying a new home involves steps like touring models, meeting with realtors, sales consultants and loan officers, and visiting your construction site. Typically, you’d be physically present for many of those steps, but did you know it’s also possible to go through the entire journey from the comfort of your sofa? From the initial search to closing day, Pulte Homes is making virtual home buying convenient and efficient for our customers.

Step #1: Online House-Hunting

Visit our website to view community locations and home designs. With interactive floor plans and 3D virtual tours, home buyers can get a realistic feel for what their home will look like.

Marian, a sales consultant for Pulte Homes in Florida, said, “Our website is a great tool for buyers. Just about anything they need is right there.”

Step #2: Take a Video Tour

Once you’ve decided on the floor plans you’re interested in, contact a sales consultant for a live video tour to help you choose your favorite. You can ask questions in real time and get personalized views of the home.

Marian recently helped one buyer purchase her home virtually. Using 3D virtual tours and video tours helped her realize that the floor plan she was interested in based on her initial online house-hunting wasn’t the best fit for her needs and she ended up choosing a different plan that was more suited to her lifestyle.

Marian has some advice for buyers: “Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Guide the sales consultant over to the corner or to go take another look at the master bathroom as they’re taking you around on the phone.”

Ask your sales consultant to do things like:

  • Open cabinets, drawers, closets, etc., to see how much space there is

  • Show you views from one room to another (for example, what can you see from the kitchen?)

  • Point out what’s standard and what’s an upgrade

Step #3: Begin Your Financing Process

Once you've signed your new home's purchase agreement, you’ll begin the financing process with Pulte Mortgage. With a streamlined digital experience, the journey to homeownership is fast and simple. You’ll start your loan process by completing the Loan Questionnaire, get assigned a Loan Number and be given access to your personalized Loan Dashboard. You’ll also meet your Loan Team who will work with you to find the right financing program to fit your unique goals and circumstances.

Step #4: Make Your Design Selections

Select your design options, like paint colors and cabinet, countertop and flooring materials, through a video design appointment. Your consultant will come prepared with samples of the colors and choices available, but you can get an idea of what you want ahead of time using Pulte’s home design tools.

Tip: Ask to see your selections in various lighting!

Step #5: Receive Progress Updates

You’ll receive frequent updates and photos from your construction team throughout the build so you can see how your home is coming along.

Step #6: Manage Your Mortgage Process

You’ll work with your Loan Team to review and verify the info you’ve provided and submit any additional documentation that is needed. You can keep up to date with your loan’s status 24/7 through your Loan Dashboard.

Step #7: Conduct the Final Walk-Through

Your home is almost ready! The final walk-through can take place through a live video call and you’ll have the opportunity to identify areas that may need extra attention and create a punch list.

Step #8: Hybrid & Drive-Thru Closing

You’ll sign final documents through Pulte Mortgage’s hybrid or drive-thru closing options* and receive the keys to your new home!
