Decorating a new home is exciting. With so many options and choices to be made, it’s helpful if you start with some input from home décor and interior design experts. From the hot kitchen ideas to colors that are on point, take a look at what’s new and now in home decorating.

General Trends

The biggest trend continues to be a nod to organized simplicity, with sleek, Scandinavian-style furniture. Graphic prints and bold patterns make a strong statement, especially when they are allowed to be the star of the show against solid, muted colors. High gloss lacquered furniture painted in bright colors is also on trend as we look ahead. When it comes to home accessories and adornments, minerals are king.  Look for eye-catching geodes and polished stones in hues that complement your color palette.

Color Trends

Muted pastels blend harmoniously with deep, rich wood tones. As for specific colors, green has been so popular in recent years that it has quickly become the new neutral. Blue is going in two distinct directions: look to deep, saturated sapphire and dusty greyish shades. The greys themselves are exploring the warmer tones of the palette. The hot accent color to look for is rich, intense, hyper-saturated red.

Kitchen Trends

Painted cabinets in white, grey, navy, and black are making a strong showing now, especially when paired with bold, metallic hardware. Shiny, high-gloss finishes are making a comeback in general, most evident in tile backsplashes and appliances. Don’t miss the opportunity to make a big statement with a large hanging light fixture over the island.
