Pulte Cares

As part of our mission to make lives better, we strive to be a good neighbor in each and every place we build and live. We always want to leave things better than we found them, whether that’s by identifying ways to enhance our building practices to benefit the environment or serving and supporting the people in our communities. Whatever the need may be, our employees are always ready to jump in and ask, “How can we help?"

Hometown Heroes

We believe that part of being a good neighbor means supporting the people who keep our communities healthy and safe.

When you make your next move with Pulte, we want to show our appreciation with more than just words. As our way of saying thank you to our Hometown Heroes for the hard work they do every day, active teachers, nurses, EMS, police, firefighters and active and retired military will receive a discount on the price of a new Pulte home.

Built to Honor

We are forever grateful to our nation’s veterans for the sacrifices they have made defending our country and protecting our freedom and we want to say thank you by doing what we do best: building homes.

Since 2013, our teams across the nation have banded together with our dedicated and generous suppliers and contractors to support this effort, having built more than 50 new homes valued over $17 million for deserving, wounded veterans. From Michigan to Texas and Washington D.C. to California, our hope is that together we can make a difference assisting our veterans and their families as they rebuild their lives here at home.

PulteGroup donates PPE to healthcare workers

Employees Giving Back

During the COVID-19 pandemic, PulteGroup teams across the country answered the call from Leading Builders of America to collect urgently needed personal protective equipment (PPE) such as masks and eyewear for healthcare workers. Together with others in the homebuilding industry, we donated over 100,000 pieces of PPE.

In addition to donating medical supplies, many of our employees banded together to raise money and provide meals to local healthcare workers. Our Southwest Florida team surprised healthcare professionals at a COVID-19 testing site when they arrived with boxed lunches for all the staff. The Michigan Division raised nearly $2,000 to cater lunches at local hospitals and used leftover funds to contribute to a local COVID Emergency Needs Fund for frontline workers isolating from their families in hotels.

The 12th Annual PulteGroup Classic in Raleigh raised over $50,000 for the Frankie Lemmon School and Development Center, which provides education and support to children with special needs and their families. Since 2007, the PulteGroup Classic has raised more than $200,000 to benefit several local charities in the Raleigh-Durham area.

PulteGroup matches employees’ charitable donations

Matching Gifts Program and Scholarship Fund

PulteGroup’s Matching Gifts Program was designed to encourage and support the generosity and community involvement of our employees by providing matching funds to the charitable organizations employees personally support, dollar for dollar, to maximize the impact of employee charitable giving. Through the program, over $200,000 was donated in 2018 to organizations across the country.

PulteGroup’s Build Your Future Scholarship Fund was created to assist in educating and training managers in the building industry. In 2019, $60,000 was awarded to help students nationwide achieve their career goals.

Sustainability

We know how important it is to take care of our planet. We put sustainability into everyday practice at our communities across the country by being mindful of our impact on the environment and integrating new technologies and leveraging green products that deliver greater energy efficiency. This is what we call the Pulte Energy Advantage®.

PulteGroup has developed an industry-leading National Storm Water Quality Program (“NSQP”) to ensure we are protecting the environment and complying with applicable federal, state and local regulations. Our NSQP helps us design and build our neighborhoods to better manage the flow of rain water through the community (sometimes more efficiently than before) while helping to keep materials such as dirt, paint, concrete residue, oils or other waste from leaving our construction sites.

For the second consecutive year, PulteGroup was selected as a component of the 2017 Dow Jones Sustainability Index — a global benchmark for corporate responsibility and sustainable business practices. For two years running, we’ve been the only U.S. based homebuilder recognized within the Consumer Durables category. The DJSI tracks the performance of industry leaders that represent the top 20 percent of the 600 largest United States and Canadian companies in the S&P Global Broad Market Index.

Smart home automation reduces energy consumption

Energy Efficiency & the Environment

Pulte’s new homes are up to 30% more energy efficient than the average existing home and many feature upgrades like Smart Home technology, solar power, LED lighting, and tankless water heaters. We also offer alternative energy solutions like solar panels in select markets and even built a Zero Net Energy home prototype in California in 2016 with the goal of producing as much energy as it uses each year.

In 2019, we teamed up with Georgia Power to bring Atlanta’s first Smart Neighborhood, a series of Smart Home enabled townhomes, to the first phase of Altus at The Quarter, a luxury smart community located on Atlanta's Upper West Side.

The Smart Neighborhood technology includes rooftop solar panels, in-home battery energy storage, and enhanced energy-efficient building features throughout, including improved insulation, advanced heating and cooling systems, LED lighting and a higher efficiency electric heat pump water heater.

Continuing our commitment to innovative green initiatives, we opened Parkside at Babcock Ranch in the environmentally innovative Babcock Ranch master planned development near Ft. Myers, FL. Babcock Ranch is the country’s first fully solar town, powered entirely by over 300,000 solar panels in one of the largest solar farms in North America. Pulte’s homes in Babcock Ranch are all built to Florida Green Building Coalition standards, emphasizing energy and water conservation, and offer a full gigabyte of fiber-optic connectivity. Landscaping uses native, non-invasive trees and plants, plus 100 percent use of reclaimed water for irrigation.
Efficient use of building materials minimizes waste

Building Practices

We are incorporating eco-friendly practices into home building, offering long-term benefits to both consumers and the environment.

We utilize a library of commonly managed floor plans across multiple markets to use wood and other building materials more efficiently and to minimize waste at the construction site. These floor plan designs also have more useable space within a smaller footprint creating the potential for communities to have more open outdoor areas.
