Del Webb residents see our incredible amenities as more than buildings, pools, playing surfaces, ball fields and gleaming fitness centers. They see amenities and our many clubs and classes as opportunities to make new acquaintances. And as venues where you might discover a side of yourself you never knew existed.

At Sun City Carolina Lakes those opportunities present themselves in our 40,000-square-foot recreation center that overlooks a sparkling lake and includes a state-of-the-art fitness center, an indoor lap pool and walking track, ballroom, billiards room and numerous classrooms where clubs can meet.

A beautiful 18-hole golf course is integrated in the community. Other outdoor amenities include eight water-cooled clay tennis courts, four bocce courts, an outdoor pool, amenity lawn, a boardwalk along the wetlands, and miles of walking trails.

Trevor Sunderlag - "My road to Sun City Carolina Lakes…

I grew up in Burlington, Illinois, a very small town (population 450) about 1 hour west of Chicago. After graduating from high school, I attended Augustana College, a small, liberal arts school in Rock Island, IL with the desire to be in the music industry. I began a double-major of music and business, studied in Europe my junior year and performed for the King and Queen of Sweden with the Augustana Choir.

My career goal of becoming an orchestra manager drastically changed after a summer internship with the Grant Park Concert Society as it seemed that working for a non-profit organization was for me. Not sure what I wanted to be “when I grew up,” I decided to follow my urge to get out of the Midwest and work on a cruise ship! I found myself on board the SS Galileo, cruising from New York City to Bermuda as the Assistant Cruise Director and over the next two years, I worked on three different ships and sailed to many Caribbean islands, Mexico and South America. The best part of the whole experience was working with people from around the world and I still keep in touch with several friends from England and the Czech Republic.

Still not over the travel bug, I spent the next five years working for Apple Vacations, a charter travel company based in Chicago and Philadelphia, as a Resort Representative. I lived and worked in Jamaica, Mexico and Florida, arranging airport transportation and excursions, making room reservations and solving vacationer’s problems.

During my fourth year with Apple Vacations, I was transferred to Orlando. After having an annual pass to Walt Disney World, I knew I wanted to be a part of the Disney magic someday. I become a Disney Cast Member, working in their Central Reservations Office. I later transferred to Magic Kingdom Guest Relations and was fortunate enough to be selected to be a VIP tour guide, hosting company executives and celebrities such as Paula Zahn, Rider Strong, Soupy Sales, Michael Kamen, Michael J. Fox and Bill Nye-the Science Guy. In 1996, I seized an opportunity to transfer to Disney Entertainment with Magic Music Days, the department that hosts high school marching bands, choirs and dance groups from all over the world. It was also in 1996 that I got married to the love of my life, Arlene. How all this came about is another story altogether!

A few years later, I was promoted to the “Guest Talent Booking Manager” for the entire Walt Disney World Resort. Anytime a non-professional performing group was needed for an event, convention, commercial, parade, or grand opening, I would fill the call.

However, after 14 years with one of the best-known and most respected companies in the world, it was time for a change. Many of our friends had moved away for other jobs, the schools in the area were less than outstanding, and the Florida heat made life miserable for much of the year.

I began to look north towards the Carolina’s. The Lifestyle Director position opened at Sun City Carolina Lakes that I was excited to accept. Hopefully soon, we will close on a home in Fort Mill and I will move my wife and kids here. After only a few weeks here, I know that I have made the right decision. Everyone has been very welcoming and I look forward to many happy years here at SCCL!"

Clubs and Classes

The Lake House features several arts and crafts rooms, a large ballroom, and a billiards area with 5 Billiard Tables, 6 Poker Tables, and 2 Table Tennis Tables. There’s also a pottery studio, a library/computer area, and meeting rooms for the 100+ clubs and activities.

Creative Classes

Do you have a creative side or an artistic flare?  Is there something you’ve secretly wondered how to do or wished you could try?  Now’s the time!  Sun City Carolina Lakes offers a variety of classes ranging from woodworking to jewelry to drama-the opportunities are endless.  With over 100 clubs to join-Sun City Carolina Lakes has something for everyone!

Pools

Whether you like to swim laps, have a leisurely float, or swim for the pure pleasure of moving through the water-at Sun City Carolina Lakes you’ll have your choice of several swimming pools to do just that! Enjoy the indoor lap pool, the outdoor resort-style pool with lap lane, and the new amenity center pool (coming soon)-all for your swimming delight!

You'll find social gatherings centered around the outdoor pool-but if you’re in the mood to work up a sweat, jump in and participate in the water aerobic classes which are offered in the heated indoor lap pool.

Spas

Soothe a sore muscle or soak away your stress in the spa hot tub in the fitness center.

Dining

You won’t have to go far when you’re hungry-join your neighbors for a meal at the full-service restaurant in the golf clubhouse, or treat yourself to a hot beverage at The Lake House coffee shop.

Fitness Center

The Fitness Center (within The Lake House) includes fitness classrooms, weight rooms, an indoor lap pool, spa hot tub, and an upper-level walking trail.

Outdoors, you’ll find a resort-style pool, 8 clay water-cooled tennis courts, 4 bocce courts, 2 pickle ball courts, horseshoe pits, an outdoor pavilion, and an amenity lawn! If golf is your game - practice your swing at the championship 18-hole golf course and driving range.

Fishing

In the summer, the Catawba River is ideal for kayaking, canoeing and fishing! There are 10 picturesque lakes and ponds of various sizes throughout the community with the largest lake located behind our amenity center “The Lake House” - take a moment to enjoy the beauty and tranquility of this lake from the fishing pier!

Game Rooms

Join your neighbors in a friendly game of cards or billiards in our popular games room - there’s never a dull moment at the billiards and card tables!

Golf

For avid golfers, Sun City Carolina Lakes has a beautiful, professionally designed 18-hole, 165-acre golf course as part of the community.
