Paul and Connie Parton
Five-year Southern Nevada residents and first-time home buyers Paul and Connie Parton searched across the valley before finding the combination of home, neighborhood and location they wanted at Del Webb’s active adult Solera at Stallion Mountain community in southeastern Las Vegas.
The Partons, who are originally from Dallas, Texas, initially came to Las Vegas to be close to their son, who had already been living here for several years. The couple rented in town for their first five years and then thought they might return to Texas before a series of events changed their minds.
“When the lease was up on our former apartment, we decided to return to Texas,” said Paul Parton, who is employed with Access Technologies. “We essentially sold everything in preparation for leaving Las Vegas.”
“While living in the southeast valley, we found a church in the area that we really liked – a place where we made many wonderful new friends and associations,” Parton continued. “Then, we changed our minds and decided to stay in Las Vegas. At that point, we decided to rent another apartment and began looking for a permanent home here. We searched all over town and looked at all kinds of new and resale homes.”
Then, a local Realtor suggested that the Partons visit Del Webb’s Solera at Stallion Mountain Active Adult community. “Once we drove into Solera at Stallion Mountain and saw the homes and community, we knew this was the place for us,” Parton said. “We visited the community center; viewed the quality of construction in the homes and the overall value, and decided to buy our home that same day.”
The Partons chose the Shire model at Solera at Stallion Mountain. The one-story home which features a covered entry and covered rear yard patio, has an open floor plan design with a large great room, a spacious kitchen with a dining nook, three bedrooms (including a master suite with a large walk-in closet) two baths, an attached two-car garage and approximately 1,252 square feet of living space.
“The Shire design was just the right size and floor plan for us,” said Parton. “It has three bedrooms and a good separation between the bedrooms and the living and entertaining areas. We were also impressed by the long list of included features, such as the covered back yard patio.”
The Del Webb reputation for building energy-efficient homes was another attraction for the couple. “As one example, we moved into our home last September and were told that when we set the air conditioning temperature on our thermostat, the room temperatures would be consistent throughout our entire home,” Parton said. “We have found this to be 100% true and I can also say that on a square-foot to square-foot comparison, our utility bills in our Solera at Stallion Mountain home are about 1/3 of what they were in our former apartment.”
The couple also appreciated the services they received from the Del Webb sales and customer service staff. “Our sales associate, Marie Linford, did an absolutely outstanding job for us throughout the entire process of buying our home,” Parton said. “In fact, everyone we dealt with from Del Webb was very friendly, helpful and responsive --every step of the way. There were no high-pressure tactics, in terms of selling us our home and everything we were promised was delivered.”
“We are very pleased with our decision to buy at Solera at Stallion Mountain and, based on our experience, we’d do it all over again,” Parton added.
Marvin Sowards and Patty Shaffer
Marvin Sowards and Patty Shaffer wanted to find a peaceful area to call home, away from all the activity in the Nellis Air Force Base area, where they formerly lived. Familiar with the Pulte Homes name, they looked at many neighborhoods by the builder in several areas of the Las Vegas Valley.
“Pulte has a reputation for building excellent quality homes,” Sowards said. “We were looking for a home that was energy efficient and knew that was something Pulte specialized in.”
Given their desire for a quiet environment, they quickly fell in love with the Pulte’s Del Webb affiliate, which offers Sun City and Solera communities in several areas of Southern Nevada.
“We looked at a lot of different homes, but we quickly narrowed it down to age-qualified communities,” Sowards said. “We loved Sun City Anthem, but then we saw Solera at Stallion Mountain, and we were equally impressed. The homes are beautiful and the eastside location is very convenient for us.”
“I also like the landscaping and everything they have done around the Solera community. It has a very clean look and the amenities are something I have never had before.”
Shaffer said the location worked for a great many reasons, including the fact that the community was tucked away on the edge of the valley, reducing traffic, and because it was near new and established entertainment and shopping.
A tour of the models at Solera at Stallion Mountain finalized the couple’s decision. When Sowards saw the Morgan floor plan, everything about it including the extended garage in the front, seemed custom-made for him.
“One of the deciding factors for me was the Morgan plan had a deeper garage. It was two feet longer than the others,” he said. “I have a fairly large pickup truck and I work in my garage a lot, so having the extra space is wonderful. That, combined with the fine details in the home, and the fact that it is so peaceful out here, made this the perfect choice for us.”
“One of the things I liked was that the kitchen was really large and it had a lot of cabinet space,” said Shaffer.
Once the couple made up their minds, everything happened quickly and efficiently for them. Regular calls from the Del Webb staff ensured that all the details came together in a timely manner and their home was delivered exactly as promised.
“We really had great customer service,” Sowards said. “They were very good about letting us know what we needed to do, such as when to go to the design center to pick out what we wanted, closing dates and all the other details. They were also very good about answering questions for us.”
