Meet Your Lifestyle Director

Our Lifestyle Director at Sun City Huntley serves as the manager of many interesting programs including recreational, social, cultural, travel, and entertainment designed to enrich the quality of life and enhance the vibrancy of the community for all our residents. Our lifestyle concept is designing programs, clubs, and groups based on the interests of our homeowners.

Clubs and Classes

At your Social Hall you can join a monthly book discussion group or gather with club members interested in computers, genealogy, or other topics. A multitude of meeting rooms allow you to gather with Investment Club members to review your stock portfolio, or simply to attend a lecture from a member of your local community on issues relevant to you and your neighbors.

What creative outlet strikes your fancy? Art, drama, gardening, wood carving, dancing, culinary arts? Immerse yourself in classes ranging from calligraphy and china painting to tap dance and sewing. Whatever it is, you can explore it here. For example, you don't need to know how to carve wood to join the wood carvers group. Just participate, and you'll learn how to carve figures, chip carve, or do relief carving. Or, as a member of the Kitchen Club, you can show off your culinary expertise and share recipes with fellow gourmets.

Del Webb communities offer perfect settings for both nature and adventure lovers. We have clubs chartered to explore nature, traveling, RVs, motorcycles, cruises, and more. Maybe you'd like to try a tropical cruise. You could get out on a variety of exciting excursions with your fellow Nature Explorer Club members; perhaps a hot air balloon ride or a moonlight canoe trip. Or you could always join other resident daredevils who don helmets for monthly day rides with the Motorcycle Club. Whatever!

Crafts

From kilns to potters' wheels, the Ceramics Room provides a large workspace to support your artistic flair. Or take part in one of the many art clubs or attend a class in oil and water-based painting in the Art and Design area.

For special projects, visit the Sewing Room, complete with a private dressing room for special garment fittings. You may even want to attend a sewing class.

Eateries

Featuring a full service lunch and dinner menu with a variety of tantalizing weekly specials, the public loves The Walleye Grill, almost as much as you will. You can also opt for a drink and a quick sandwich at the Sports Pub where you might want to linger for billiards, darts, table shuffleboard, or just to watch your favorite sporting event on TV.

For large events such as dances, banquets and weddings, you'll visit the Drendel Ballroom! Named for the family farm formerly occupying a portion of what is now Sun City, its elevated stage and state-of-the-art audio and video equipment make it a wonderful place to show movies or host theatrical and musical performances.

Wildflower Lake is a 14-acre lake stocked by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources with bluegill, bass, walleye and more!

Fitness

Whether your preference is fitness training, aerobics, rollerblading, swimming, walking, biking, or jogging, you can keep fit in a Del Webb community. Your state-of-the-art Fitness Center offers stationary bicycles, treadmills, and weight resistance equipment. The outdoor resort-style pool provides a place for vigorous exercise or pure relaxation, plus a heated therapy spa. Set an appointment with our fitness director for an individual fitness orientation to help you initiate a workout program and learn how to adjust it as needed. Of course you can also enjoy water aerobics, dance aerobics, and several other classes at all levels.

Game Rooms

Our Social Hall makes a spectacular setting for a challenging game of poker, chess, or other table games.

Community Garden

Sun City Huntley has a community garden open to residents who love to garden.

Golf

Rated Chicagoland's best new course, Whisper Creek Golf Club includes five lakes, bluegrass roughs, and numerous wetlands. This challenging 18-hole, par-72 course offers challenging ways to improve your game with each hole. Practice facilities include a putting green, chipping green, and driving range.

Learning and Business Center

If you're more science-minded, perhaps you'll want to visit the computer training room and Computer Lab for classes ranging from beginner on up, business use, or just e-mailing your grandkids.

Quiet time abounds in the Wall Street Reading Room. An enormous fireplace and a good selection of periodicals, financial reports, and reference materials grace the room. There are even computers with Internet access for research and on-line trading.

Park and Lake

When it’s time to take a break from your active schedule, Wildflower Park is an ideal place to share a picnic with friends. If you crave the beauty and tranquility of the water, come out to Wildflower Lake. This lovely private lake is set within the community for your use and enjoyment.

Pool

Whether you like to swim laps, float lazily on the surface as the clouds drift by, or swim for the sheer joy it gives you, you’ll have the use of two indoor and two outdoor pools.

Spa

Soak a sore muscle, sooth your spirit, or hang out with friends in the indoor hot tub.

Sports

You'll have the opportunity to enjoy golf, tennis, bowling, softball, horseshoes, water volleyball, bridge, billiards, bingo, and much more. Try out the horseshoe pits, state-of-the-art tennis and bocce courts, and 18 holes of championship golf.

Volunteer

Reach out a helping hand to the local elementary school in charity events like "Food for Thanksgiving."
