Culture / Entertainment

The Humble area features four libraries that are all branches of the Harris County Public Library. Each library offers thousands of books, newspapers, periodicals, audio- and video-tapes, and more, as well as special educational programs and events. The Lake Houston Family YMCA offers community-based activities, and the Nathaniel Center, located in Kingwood, Texas, is a fabulous venue for the performing arts, rental space for receptions and galas, and quality Biblical, history, and language classes. The Center is home to the Kingwood Pops Orchestra and Centre Stage, and also offers free community events to the public such as Entertainment on the House (for the performing arts) and the Nathaniel Hold'em Tournament. The Humble Museum features historical displays and items about the history of Humble and the local area. Take the family to learn about the history of the town they now call "home". Or visit the McKay Clinic Medical Museum-a unique medical museum housed in the building built especially for that purpose.

Recreation

Hiking, biking, and exploring natural areas are all important to the lifestyle of Waters Edge residents. Duessen Park is only minutes away, and offers over 300 acres of nature reserves, picnic areas, jogging trails, sports fields, and boating. Eisenhower Park has a beautiful, natural setting that includes a 10-acre fishing pond. Lake Houston offers excellent opportunities for swimming, fishing, boating, and skiing. Waters Edge at Lake Houston offers a community fishing pier so all residents can enjoy access to Lake Houston. Kayak or canoe Lake Houston and its sources the San Jacinto River and Spring Creek to enjoy the breathtaking scenery and native wildlife. Local golf courses, including world-class tournament courses, challenging professional courses, executive three-pars, a golf instructional school, youth programs, driving ranges, and night golfing are all available. May Park, located across Lake Houston, features a state-of-the-art community center. The 70-acre facility also boasts five lighted softball fields, one lighted football field, a small gazebo with tables and a barbecue pit, picnic tables, and rest rooms. Nearby is the Lindsey Lyons Sports Complex that features a playground and barbecue pavilion, in addition to numerous athletic fields and facilities for soccer, baseball, football, and girl's softball.

Schools

The Humble Independent School District has an annual budget of $222 million, serves some 33,000 students in grades Pre-K to 12, has approximately 4,900 employees, and operates 36 campuses. Water's Edge students attend Summerwood Elementary, Atascocita Middle School, and Atascocita High School.

Shopping

Wander down Main Street Humble, searching for that perfect treasure among the antique shops, learn of Humble's unique history at the museum, or enjoy dinner at Chez Nous, the delicious secret tucked away on a side street. When you really need that serious shopping that comes with a car full of kids then drop by the Deerbrook Mall. The kids can romp in the Dinosaur Play Area while you check out stores like Barnes & Noble, Casual Corner, Dillard's and Gymboree. When you're done, catch a movie at the state-of-the-art AMC Theatre. You can also find many retail stores, restaurants, grocery stores, home improvement, and gardening supplies close to home in Atascocita. Nearby restaurants in the area include Johnny Carino's, Applebees, Panera Bread, and Hasta La Pasta.

Transportation

Waters Edge at Lake Houston is just two miles south of 1160, and near I-10, Highway. 59 and the 8 Beltway, making it easy to get just about anywhere. Bush Intercontinental Airport is just a 15 minute drive away.
