    Recreation

    From nearby parks and golf, to fine dining and area attractions, Loma Colorado is surrounded by plenty to do in the way of recreation. Spend the day picnicking with the family at Loma's own parks or venture further to Sandia Vista Park or Rio Rancho Bosque Preserve. Play a round of golf at the local course called Chamisa Hills Country Club, or visit Twin Warriors Golf Course to the north or Santa Ana Star Golf Course. Catch dinner and a movie at Cottonwood Mall or try your hand at the slot machines at the Santa Ana Star Casino. There's something for everyone here.

    Schools

    Elementary, middle schools and the high school are all within sight of Loma Colorado. Stapleton Elementary, Eagle Ridge Middle, and Rio Rancho High School are all within the highly regarded Rio Rancho Public School District.

    Shopping

    From everyday household items to evening wear and groceries, the Rio Rancho area has it all. Some of the shopping areas include Albertson's, Raley's, Target, Ace Hardware, Smith's, Wal-Mart, Home Depot, High Desert Garden (Nursery), and all of the many stores in Cottonwood Mall and the surrounding area.

    Transportation

    Traveling into, and out of, the Rio Rancho area is getting simpler thanks to a couple of forms of public transportation, including the recently opened New Mexico Rail Runner Express (commuter train) for an easy trip to downtown Albuquerque or further south to Los Lunas. For larger trips out west, Amtrak still breezes through Albuquerque on its way from Chicago to Los Angeles. And, the Albuquerque International Airport is easily accessed from I-25, just a short 20 miles away.

    Worship

    There are many places of worship in and around the Rio Rancho area, including St. Thomas Aquinas (Catholic), First Baptist Church, Rio Ranch Jewish Center, Calvary Lutheran-LCMS, St. Francis Episcopal Church, Church of Jesus Christ of LDS, Calvary Chapel of Rio Rancho (Assemblies of God), Rio Rancho Presbyterian Church, Rio West Community Church (Evangelical). and Rio Rancho United Methodist Church. Incidentally, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is building a chapel which is across the street from the high school, and adjacent to Loma Colorado.

    • From the I-25/I-40 (Big-I) Interchange:
    • Head North on I-25
    • Exit Paseo del Norte and go West
    • Travel North on Coors By-Pass/NM528
    • Cross Ellison Dr and enter Rio Rancho
    • Pass Intel and then cross Southern Blvd
    • Turn left (West) on High Resort Blvd at the stoplight
    • Turn right on Loma Vista Blvd at the main Loma Colorado entry monument
    • From Santa Fe and the North:
    • Head South on I-25
    • Exit West on US550
    • Travel South (left) on NM528 (about 5 miles)
    • Pass Northern Blvd
    • Turn right (West) on High Resort Blvd at the stoplight
    • Turn right on Loma Vista Blvd at the main Loma Colorado entry monument
