    City Overview

    The Glen is built upon what once was the Glenview Naval Air Base. Originally built in the 1930’s, the Navy decided to shut it down in 1993. In 1995, the city of Glenview was given oversight to create a completely unique, master planned community in the North Shore. What they were able to create is nothing less than extraordinary: A intimate atmosphere with superior schools within a picturesque community where you can live, shop, dine, engage in unique recreation, be entertained, exercise, take care of your health, and even get married if you so desire. Maybe you are looking for ways to express your more creative side, if so, then look no further than Color Me Mine, where you can learn to paint ceramics and numerous other artistic activities. Glenview Montessori School is available for 2-6 years of age, while Countryside Montessori School offers learning for children from toddler to age 12. And, North Shore Country Day School offers something smaller for grades pre-K through 12. Crème de la Crème offers award winning daycare and learning as well, located right down the street in The Glen. Our Lady of Perpetual Help School and St. Catherine Laboure School offers a Catholic school environment for pre-K through 8th grade. And, The Glenview New Church School offers PK-8 Christian education. Glenview also is home to Immanuel Lutheran School. There is also Loyola Academy, Midwestern Academy, and Notre Dame High School for boys all within 10 minutes of our community. For a little math help, Mathnasium is conveniently located in Town Center. For Adult Education, Northwestern University is less than 20 minutes away, and nearby Oakton Community College has a wide variety of courses as well. Within 30 minutes, you have a wide range of award winning colleges such as Loyola University, the University of Illinois-Chicago, University of Chicago, and DePaul University.


    Average home costs in Glenview was 380K in 2005 and 640K in 2010 (city-data.com). It is seriously bucking the trend. Less than 1/3 the amount of renters as the state average.     Glenview is a medium-sized village with a population of 45,750 people. It is the 35th largest community in Illinois. With a large amount German and Irish heritage. Over 50% of the people that reside in Glenview have a Bachelors and 25% have graduate degree. 75% of Glenview's residents are of the Catholic religion. Glenview is a decidedly white-collar village, with fully 89.76% of the workforce employed in white-collar jobs, well above the national average. Overall, Glenview is a village of professionals, sales and office workers and managers. Also of interest is that Glenview has more people living here who work in computers and math than 95% of the places in the US.

And, according to 2010 statistics, Glenbrook South was ranked 28th in terms of the best high school's in the state of Illinois, which puts them in the top 4% of High Schools in the state. Rated 5 stars on GreatSchools.com, and has a 20 acre park and playground. Glen Grove Intermediate School (3-5), district 34: is 2.6 miles from our community. Grade 4 ISAT Scores: Math: here 58.9% exceeded, whereas statewide only 26.4% exceeded. Reading: here 51.1% exceeded, whereas statewide only 26.8% exceeded. And, is rated 5 stars on GreatSchool.com. Attea Middle School (6-8) District 34: Located in The Glen just over 1 mile from the community, is rated 5 stars on GreatSchools.com. Grade 7 ISAT Scores: Math: here 50.7% exceeded, where as only 23.8% exceeded statewide. Reading: here 41% exceeded, whereas only 18.2% exceeded statewide.
