    City Overview

The Glen is built upon what once was the Glenview Naval Air Base. Originally built in the 1930’s, the Navy decided to shut it down in 1993. In 1995, the city of Glenview was given oversight to create a completely unique, master planned community in the North Shore. What they were able to create is nothing less than extraordinary: A intimate atmosphere with superior schools within a picturesque community where you can live, shop, dine, engage in unique recreation, be entertained, exercise, take care of your health, and even get married if you so desire. It has quintessential hometown charm, yet all the amenities of a robust city. Since its inception, The Glen has grown considerably, to the point where there is no more land left to build on. That is why Regency at The Glen will be the last residential development in The Glen. We have literally “saved the best for last!”

    Transportation

If transportation is important to you, you will find that one of the primary advantages of living at Regency at the Glen is its location. The community is conveniently just 2 miles east of the Tri-State Tollway (I-294) and 2 miles west of the Edens Expressway (I-94). These thoroughfares provide quick access to employment and entertainment corridors and an easy 20 minute commute to O'Hare International Airport. And, you can go green by taking the Metra from Glenview's Depot Avenue Stop or take the Pace Bus Service which serves The Glen. This great location explains why the average commute is less than 20 minutes (City-Data.com)for people lucky enough to live in The Glen.

    Housing

Average home costs in Glenview was 380K in 2005 and 640K in 2010 (city-data.com). It is seriously bucking the trend. Less than 1/3 the amount of renters as the state average. Currently, the average cost of a used town home in Glenview is 483K (City-data.com). Vacancy rate? Rental rate: 13%? Glenview has seen a significant amount of newer housing growth in recent years. Quite often, new home construction is the result of new residents moving in who are middle class or wealthier, attracted by jobs, a healthy local economy, or other amenities as they leave nearby or far away areas for greener pastures. This seems to be the case in Glenview, where the median household income is $80,730. Glenview home prices are not only among the most expensive in Illinois, but Glenview real estate also consistently ranks among the most expensive in America.
